Ever wondered what it takes to be a Midwife in Alberta? How about a Lawyer? Or even an Environmental Engineer?
This winter, Lindisfarne Productions worked with the Alberta Learning Information Service (ALIS) to find out just what it takes to pursue each of these occupations and more in Alberta.
Each of the occupational profiles created will help Albertans young and old looking to explore their prospects as they leave high school, or explore new career options.
We had the opportunity to follow Carly Beaulieu, a practicing Midwife, as she explained the many different aspects of her job, from administration to communication, from prenatal to postnatal care, and of course the joy of witnessing the “miracle of childbirth.”
Colleen Mahon, a Community Disability Services Practitioner, walked us through a typical day helping individuals with disabilities “in achieving their goals and dreams so that they can be participating members of our community.” While noting that it takes patience, energy, creativity and varied hours, Colleen shares how rewarding it is to “watch people achieve their goals… shine and fell good about what they’ve learned.”
